MEDITE FR (Flame Retardant). Euro Class B & C is an MDF panel developed specifically for use in situations where a Euro Class B or a Euro Class C flame retardant board is required under building regulations. Developed for the 21st Century at Medite’s Clonmel MDF facility, Medite FR broadens the range of the Medite family of high performance MDF products.

APPLICATIONS. Medite FR Euro Class B & C, formerly Class 0 and Class 1 BS 476 part 6 & 7 respectively panel products, are suitable for use as wall linings, partitions, display panels, ceilings etc. Typical installations are: Hotel foyers, offices, public libraries, schools, court houses, hospitals, cinemas, discotheques and some shipbuilding applications. Medite FR Euro Class B & C is not suitable for external or structural applications, nor where exposure to water or high relative humidity may be encountered. Medite FR Euro Class B & C is suitable for use in internal dry conditions as defined in EN 622 part 5. Boards of this type are suitable for use in Hazard Class 1 of EN 335-3.

PERFORMANCE-FIRE RESISTANCE. Medite FR Euro Class B & C has been certified for 30 minutes fire resistance of symmetrical non-load bearing partitions. Before designing or using this feature, careful duplication and testing of the various partition elements is required. Please refer to Medite Europe Document - ‘30 minute Fire Resisting Partitions’. APPEARANCE. Medite FR Euro Class B & C is distinguishable from other Medite MDF products by its pink identification colour.

CONDITIONING. The moisture content of Medite FR Euro Class B & C is in the range of 7% +/- 2% at the time of manufacture. Changes in dimensions of wood and wood-based sheet materials occur due to changes in relative humidity. For this reason, Medite FR Euro Class B & C panels should be conditioned to the final environment for two to three days before fixing.

MACHINING/FINISHING. Cut or profiled edges of Medite FR Euro Class B & C should first be sanded with 150-240 grit, prior to painting. When choosing a coating system it should be confirmed with the paint manufacturer that the coating will not adversely affect the Euro Class B flame spread or Euro Class C classification of the Medite FR Euro Class B & C panel.

There are a variety of flame retardant paints to choose from which provide resistance and wear qualities equal to general decorative paints. The method of application will depend directly on the type of paint selected.

AUTHORITY. Medite FR Euro Class B & C (EN 13823 + EN 11925-2) is manufactured under an NSAI registered I.S. EN ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.

SUPPLY. Medite FR Euro Class B & C is produced in the following standard panel sizes: CLASS C 1220 x 2440 and 1220 x 3050mm in 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 25mm thicknesses. CLASS B - 1220 x 2440 and 1220 x 3050mm in 6, 12, 15, 18 and 25mm thicknesses. Other thicknesses and panel sizes by special request.
